The knowledge and some of the pictures in wisegames come from people who share their work openly.

Data and maps

Glimpse & Mosaic photographs

All 100 photographs are dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0. We thank their creators and Wikimedia Commons. We host resized WebP copies locally, with camera metadata removed and padding added where needed. Glimpse progressively reveals each photo; Mosaic divides a centred square crop into movable pieces. Both games display photos here without loading third-party images.

Source records and license notices were checked on 13 October 2026. Credit does not imply endorsement by the photographers or Wikimedia Commons.

Elapsed photographs

These 100 pairs show real subjects at different times. Images are hosted here as resized, padded WebP copies with camera metadata removed. Some archive comparison sheets are cropped to their individual photographs. Each image retains the licence or reuse terms linked below; adapted CC BY-SA images remain available under the same licence. Credits do not imply endorsement.

Capture dates come from the linked archive records. A year or month is kept at that precision, rather than inventing an exact day. Natural-colour and processed satellite photographs are identified in their source records.

Source records and reuse notices checked on 14 October 2026.

Anatomy drawings

Atlas’s skeleton, front skull, side skull and hand are adapted from public-domain work by Mariana Ruiz Villarreal (LadyofHats), with contributions by Mikael Häggström and Nyks.

The foot drawing is adapted from work by Mario Modesto Mata, Johnuniq and HLHJ under CC BY-SA 3.0. Our adapted geometry and source drawing are shared under that licence.

Archivo, Big Shoulders Display, Bricolage Grotesque, Cormorant Garamond, DM Mono, Figtree, Fraunces, Hanken Grotesk, IBM Plex Mono, Instrument Sans, Manrope, Outfit, Syne and Unbounded are self-hosted under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Font notice.

Software

Next.js, React, vinext, Vite and Cloudflare’s Vite plugin use the MIT licence. TypeScript uses Apache 2.0; the Cloudflare CLI offers MIT or Apache 2.0. Framework licence notices. Map preparation uses d3-geo and TopoJSON under the ISC licence; those map tools run during content generation.
